About KeyboardTester — Web Hardware Diagnostics

KeyboardTester is a dedicated browser-native hardware diagnostic utility built for gamers, software engineers, mechanical keyboard enthusiasts, and hardware technicians worldwide.

Our Engineering Philosophy

Hardware testing should never require installing executable software (.exe, .msi, .dmg), granting administrator privileges, or exposing system security to untrusted third-party binaries. KeyboardTester was built to leverage standard browser Event APIs—including modern Web APIs like DOM Level 3 KeyboardEvents, Pointer Events, and Web Audio API—to deliver real-time, millisecond-accurate hardware verification straight from any web browser.

Core Testing Technologies

Our suite of diagnostic tools covers every layer of keyboard hardware and firmware evaluation:

  • Interactive Hardware Matrix Testing: Renders complete ANSI 104-key and Mac 79-key virtual layouts to track keydown, keyup, and active actuation states across all physical switches.
  • Key Chatter & Double-Typing Detection: Monitors event deltas down to the millisecond to identify worn metal contact leaves, dirty switch stems, or improper debounce thresholds.
  • N-Key Rollover (NKRO) & Ghosting Analysis: Tests simultaneous multi-key registrations to uncover matrix blocking, diode circuit limitations, and USB HID endpoint caps (6KRO vs. NKRO).
  • Performance & Input Speed Benchmarks: Measures Net WPM, Raw WPM, typing accuracy, and mouse Clicks Per Second (CPS) with real-time feedback.

Strict Privacy Guarantee

We believe input privacy is a fundamental digital right. Keyboards are used to type passphrases, credentials, personal correspondence, and sensitive business logic. KeyboardTester enforces a strict zero-server privacy architecture:

  • Client-Only Execution: 100% of event processing happens inside your browser Javascript engine. No keystroke log, key code, or timing metric ever leaves your local device memory.
  • Zero Account Requirement: You will never be asked to create an account, log in, or disclose your email address to access any diagnostic tool.
  • No External Trackers: We do not sell keystroke data or run invasive telemetry tracking scripts.

Universal Platform & Device Compatibility

Whether you are testing a brand-new custom hot-swappable mechanical keyboard on Windows 11, an Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID on macOS, a Chromebook membrane keyboard, or a Linux gaming rig, KeyboardTester is engineered to detect system physical key codes (event.code) regardless of operating system language layouts.
